WINNIPEG — Transcona residents will have one less grocery store option in a few weeks.
Workers at the Extra Foods on Regent Avenue near Plessis Road have been told the store is shutting its doors early September.
The union representing at least 30 workers confirmed the closure with Global News. A spokesperson said all unionized workers have been offered employment at other Loblaw owned stores.

One worker who has been with the company for 10 years said customers and staff are upset with the company’s decision to close the location.
The worker said the store has not received new stock in a week and a half.
Global News has contacted Loblaws, the owner of Extra Foods, for more information however we have not heard back yet.
