Police say heavy winds caused the 40-year-old man and his 15-year-old son to fall off and become separated from each other.

RCMP were called around 5:15 p.m. when the duo failed to return.

Both men were wearing life jackets and managed to stay afloat for several hours until they were rescued.

Neither of them were seriously injured. They did receive medical treatment because of the prolonged time in such cold water.
