People in Munich, Germany are opening their doors to the public during a shooting attack in the downtown area.
The good will comes after police asked people to stay inside or seek shelter after at least one gunman opened fire at the Olympia Einkaufszentrum shopping center around 6 p.m. local time Friday.
Police said there are “several dead and wounded” after the attack, but a complete number has not yet been confirmed. A report from Reuters news agency put the death toll at 15.

There have been other reports of gunfire at the Marienplatz train station, which is around eight kilometres from the shopping mall.
People are taking to Twitter using the hashtag #OpenDoor, or #OffenTur in German, to let people on the streets of the city know where they can seek shelter.
Facebook has also activated it’s Safety Check feature, to allow people in the midst of the situation let their loved ones know whether or not they are out of harm’s way.
