It’s been four months but Bubba the dog is now meth free and looking for a forever home.
The Jack Russell-Chihuahua mix was found in March high on heroin, methamphetamine and marijuana after police arrested his owner, Joshua West, 40.
He was since charged with drug possession and animal cruelty.
Orange County Animal Care assistant director, Katie Ingrim, told CBS Los Angeles the shelter was concerned for Bubba’s health.
“Initially, we had some concerns about how Bubba would be affected by drugs in his system,” Ingrim told CBS LA. “He definitely acted like a dog that had been exposed to something. He was distracted his demeanor was a little off.”
OC Animal Care tested Bubba regularly, according to CBS LA, but it wasn’t until last week that his results came back negative.
“Cleared out of his system” Ingrim said. “He’s a special dog that deserves that second chance.”
Bubba went up for adoption on Wednesday but there’s no word yet on if he has found a loving family to go home with.
