A train has derailed in Burnaby near the Burrard Inlet, just east of the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge.
It happened around 3pm on July 19.
“We can confirm that earlier today five rail cars previously containing grain derailed at our Cascadia Port Terminal,” said a spokesperson for Viterra – the company sending the grain.
“There have been no injuries and the rail cars were empty at the time. We are in the process of conducting a full investigation, and will share further details as they become available.”

A TransLink spokesperson said the incident did not impact the West Coast Express given the incident took place on the spur line, not the main line.
The train was operated by Cascadia Freight.
