NewLeaf Travel prepares to take off from YLW

Kelowna’s airport prepares for the official launch of the country’s newest low-budget airline.

However, NewLeaf Travel is still finalizing agreements with YLW.

Sam Samaddar, the airport director, said they are still waiting for the agreement to be finalized and deposit to be put down but is optimistic NewLeaf will meet the July 22 deadline.

NewLeaf’s initial launch was grounded by Ottawa in January, but it appears the turbulent start may be over.

On Tuesday, media received invitations to attend the airline’s official launch and board an inaugural flight.

Guests will be taking off from YLW to Winnipeg’s airport on Monday, July 25 and arrive back in Kelowna later in the afternoon.

From Kelowna, flyers will be able to travel to Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg and Hamilton.
