Kerkhoff Construction says it took ownership of the former Lucaya highrise site last month.

The company says it will include 117 condos.
There will also be seven town homes at the site which the company named 1151 Sunset Drive, based on its street address.

The town homes are geared towards providing housing to local residents as well as those impacted by the heated housing market in Metro Vancouver.
“There is a substantial market to draw on for Kelowna both from an investment perspective but also for people wanting to make Kelowna their permanent residence. Furthermore, in the condominiums surrounding this project, a large number of homes are rentals as opposed to owner occupied, so 1151 Sunset will provide a new opportunity for people to make the area their permanent home,” president of Fifth Avenue Real Estate Marketing, the firm that will be promoting the units and town homes, Scott Brown said in a news release.
The site has been dormant since 2008. The company said construction is set to begin in September.
