Two overnight Winnipeg fires send five people to hospital

Winnipeg — Two separate house fires overnight in to the early morning Saturday sent five people to hospital in Winnipeg.

Two people still remain in hospital, in stable condition.

The first fire, just before 10 p.m. Friday night sent firefighters forcing their way in to a Fort Garry home on the 800 block of Lyon Street.

One woman was found unconscious. She’s one of the two in hospital in stable condition.

Police estimate the damage resulting from the fire sits at an estimated $200,000.

The other person who remains in hospital was rushed there following a 4 a.m. fire Saturday in the 500 block of Young Street. Police say while both fires are being investigated, the Lyon Street fire does not appear to be suspicious, but the Young Street one does.
