Mobile home fire

A
West Kelowna family is homeless after fire ripped through their mobile home
early Tuesday.

West
Kelowna fire crews were called to Princess mobile home park, off Boucherie
Road, mid-morning to find heavy smoke billowing from the unit.

The
four occupants, a single mother and her four children, were not home at the
time.

Most
of the family’s pets, including two dogs and four guinea pigs, were rescued but
a cat was missing.

Neighbours
could do little but watch.

“I
feel sick,” said one neighbour. “She has lost her home. First day of school for
the kids. They won’t even have school clothes.”  

Damage
to the unit was extensive. Officials say it would appear the fire started
inside the home, possibly in the utility room.
