Canadian Hurricane Centre monitors development of tropical storm Leslie

HALIFAX – The Canadian Hurricane Centre is monitoring the development of tropical storm Leslie as it churns its way through the Atlantic Ocean.

The centre says the storm could possibly hit Atlantic Canada early next week, but it adds that there is much uncertainty with Leslie’s track and intensity because it is moving slowly.

Leslie is forecast to move 500 kilometres in four days – roughly the average speed of a person walking.

The centre says there are a range of scenarios that have the storm passing from Maine to offshore Newfoundland.
