Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump may have chosen Mike Pence as his running mate, but that doesn’t mean it was his best choice.

For the past several weeks, speculation mounted about who Trump would pick to run alongside him — from Newt Gingrich to his own daughter, Ivanka Trump.

Now that Trump has chosen Pence it seems to be locked down, but if he ever needs a new running mate, there’s no shortage of celebrity (and action-figure) replacements.

Barbie

Barbie announced her own running mate with a new pair of dolls that includes her own vice-presidential candidate.

Mattel, the world’s biggest toymaker, has introduced President Barbie and Vice-President Barbie with the hopes of inspiring girls to political careers.

The first all-female ticket Barbies encourage young girls to play out a world full of career opportunities. Maybe these little plastic ladies could teach Trump a thing or two about the lives of women.

Ellen DeGeneres

In a poll created by ranker.com, Ellen DeGeneres ranks as the number-one celebrity who should run for president.

DeGeneres discussed the topic of becoming president on The Ellen Show after driving to work and noticing a “Winfrey DeGeneres 2016″ political campaign bumper sticker.

“I’m honoured that people think I should be running for president,” DeGeneres said. “Portia [de Rossi, her wife] would make a beautiful first lady. And I love private planes, so that’s appealing to me. But I have no political ambitions whatsoever.”

She also laid out a few new policy ideas in case she ever decides to run for the White House, which include it being “illegal to enter a Starbucks unless you already know your order.”

When asked if she was excited by the prospect of Hillary Clinton for president in a recent interview with Elle UK, DeGeneres said, “I’m not just excited. I’m praying. If we don’t have Hillary, the alternative is very scary. We must have Hillary.”

The daytime television host was also asked if she will be throwing a huge party if Clinton wins.

“She’s already invited Portia and me to the White House so we’re going there. I’ve never been, so hopefully I get to go,” the Finding Dory star shared. “She’s actually invited me to be vice-president but I declined, because I wouldn’t get to live in the White House with her.”

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson said that Americans may be seeing “what The Rock is cooking” in the White House, and it’s believable considering he’s ranked at number 10 on the Ranker list.

The former pro wrestler first acknowledged the idea of presidency in March, when he shared an article on Twitter that showed images of why people want him to put his name on the ticket.

The 44-year-old told Michael Strahan in an interview on Good Morning America that the idea of his future in politics is “very real.”

“If it is a very real, overwhelming, positive, strong, ‘We want you to run for president,’ and if I felt that I can step up to the plate and become a tremendous leader for our country and make a real difference and make change, I would do it,” the HBO Ballers star said.

“I’ll tell you right now, that sounded so presidential,” Strahan said liking the idea. “I’m like..’put the ballot out there!'”

With all of Johnson’s playful nudges on the subject, there may be hope to see this “Jabroni” in the White House one day.

Jennifer Lawrence joked about “aging like the president” when she was discussing her busy work schedule with reporters at a press conference back in November.

The Hunger Games star has publicly expressed how she feels about the idea of Donald Trump becoming president, and it’s safe to say he will not be receiving her vote.

“If Donald Trump becomes president, that will be the end of the world,” Lawrence told Entertainment Weekly. Her co-star Liam Hemsworth joined the discussion to say, “It’s a publicity stunt. It can’t be real.”

The X-Men: Apocalypse star spoke on the Graham Norton Show and revealed that she tried to meet Trump when she realized they were both at the same concert.

She said, “I was at a concert where I heard he was attending, so I had my full security team, like I was like ‘find Donald Trump’.” The American Hustle co-star went on to say, “I was adamant on finding him and making a video of me going, ‘Hey Trump, f*** you!’ ”

Lawrence ranks at number 21 on Ranker’s list of celebrities who should run for president, but it’s safe to say she and Trump will never share a ballot. Unless it’s one of those fire-and-ice things.

Kanye West

Kanye West shocked the entire world at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards when he announced that he would run for president in 2020.

“I do have some advice for him,” President Barack Obama said during a West Coast fundraiser featuring an appearance by the rapper. “Just some stuff that I’ve picked up on the way.”

“First of all, you’ve got to spend a lot of time dealing with some strange characters who behave like they’re on a reality TV show,” Obama continued. “So you’ve just to be cool with that.”

Yeezy is prepared to deal with folks like that because he has had years of practice, considering he’s married to the biggest reality television star of our time, Kim Kardashian.

President Obama’s second tip to West references the rapper’s fifth studio album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

“Saying that you have a ‘Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ — that’s what’s known as ‘off-message’ in politics,” Obama said. “You can’t say something like that. There are a lot of people who have lost their congressional seats saying things like that.”

This hasn’t stopped The Life of Pablo artist from continuing to promote the campaign for the 2020 election.

“2020, Ima run the whole election,” he raps on the song Facts.

Rapper 50 Cent recently addressed West’s idea to run for president in 2020 on Conan.

50 Cent replied, “I like the idea of him running.” He added later, “That’s a lot of responsibility, you know what I’m saying? It’s the same thing like with Trump.”

The rapper clarified that he believes that there is really no difference between Trump or West running.

Many are still waiting for Yeezus to sweep the 2020 election like he’s been bragging about, but it seems like he’s the most hopeful candidate for Trump’s replacement vice-presidential nominee if it ever came down to it.

Some other celebrities that’ve showed up on political lists include George Clooney, Will Smith, Bill Nye the Science Guy, Judge Judy, Denzel Washington and Tina Fey.

Some of these celebrities could strengthen Donald Trump in areas of vulnerability — such as DeGeneres or West — and could convince him to invest the money in Adidas Yeezy Boosts instead of, say, building a large wall.

Even though Trump has selected Pence as his vice-presidential candidate, it is still fun to think about all the possibilities.
