At around 2:15 a.m. on June 22 Cst. Kyle Van De Sype was heading home after work when he spotted the skunk, according to the video. The cup was stuck on the skunk’s head and it appeared to be starving.

Van De Sype called in help in the form of fellow officer, Cst. Catlin Lang. The two officers decided to attempt a “tarp and trap” rescue method where one officer throws a tarp over the animal while the other removes the cup. After two attempts, the skunk was freed.
