WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will add Ken Ploen to their Ring of Honour during Thursday’s game against the Edmonton Eskimos at Investors Group Field.

Ploen is the second player to be inducted into the shrine. The former quarterback joins offensive lineman Chris Walby who was honoured prior to Winnipeg’s home opener last month. The names of nine Bomber legends will be placed on the team’s Ring of Honour this season.

Ploen was named a West Division All-Star in his first year with the Bombers in 1957. He led Winnipeg to four Grey Cups in five seasons during the late 1950s and early 1960s. Ploen retired as the CFL’s sixth all-time leading passer and fifth on the Bombers’ all-time rushing list.
“This is really a tribute to the team we had back then,” said Ploen in a statement. “We had a great team because it was a team in the purest sense of the word. It was full of good Canadians and Americans and we got along great together and played well together. I’m very humbled about it.”
The Bombers’ Ring of Honour was started earlier this season. It’s located between the suites and upper deck of Investors Group Field, facing out towards the field.
