Elections Alberta releases spring campaign financial disclosure reports

EDMONTON – Premier Alison Redford was the biggest spender of all Alberta political party leaders during the spring election campaign.

Redford spent about $154,000 on her campaign in her Calgary Elbow riding.

Elections Alberta released the financial disclosure forms submitted by candidates who ran in the April 23 election.

Wildrose party leader Danielle Smith spent about $55,000.

Liberal leader Raj Sherman, who narrowly won his Edmonton-seat, spent approximately $48,000 and NDP leader Brian Mason about $34,500.

Political donations to Diana McQueen, who is now Alberta’s environment minister, included cash from energy corporations EnCana, Cenovus and Marathon Oil. (CHED, The Canadian Press)
