First responders have rescued a Dartmouth woman who fell over the cliff at Cape Split, N.S.
The 26-year-old woman sustained serious injuries and has been transported to the Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville, RCMP Cpl. Andrew Joyce said.
The woman was brought to safety after 6 p.m. on Saturday, the first emergency call came in at 1:46 p.m.
A rope rescue team which operates with the Kings County Fire Department descended the cliff and carried the woman down to the water, Joyce said. She was then transported back to land on a boat.
Police say the woman’s dogs were also rescued.
In addition to the rope rescue team, RCMP, EHS, ground search and rescue and an Air Force helicopter were all part of the rescue effort. The helicopter was used for surveying the area where the woman fell Joyce said.
Cape Split is on the Bay of Fundy in Kings County, Nova Scotia. The trail is popular with tourists and locals alike who go to see the world famous tides. The cliffs are not fenced in and are actively eroding due to the power of the tides.
