No injuries were reported following a two-alarm fire that spread to two homes in the Runnymede neighbourhood of Toronto early Tuesday morning.
Emergency crews responded to the scene on Beresford Avenue between Annette Street and St. John’s Road around 2 a.m. to find flames coming through the roof of a residence.
Toronto fire officials say the blaze began at the rear porch of one of the homes and spread to an adjacent dwelling.
“It climbed up the wall of both addresses and was into the roof upon arrival,” said acting platoon chief Rick Cooper.
The damages sustained at both homes are estimated to be around $800,000.
The office of the Ontario Fire Marshal is leading the investigation to determine the cause of the blaze.
