One person is dead and another was seriously injured after a collision between a train and a vehicle in Melfort, Sask.

The collision happened Sunday at around 3 p.m. CT at a marked railroad crossing.

A 51-year-old woman was declared dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.

A 49-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was transported by STARS air ambulance to a Saskatoon hospital for treatment. There is no word on his current condition.

CN police and a traffic reconstructionist are helping Melfort RCMP with the investigation.
