A 16-year-old girl charged with second-degree murder in the death of a six-week-old infant boy made her first court appearance Monday morning.
At around 7 a.m. Sunday officers responded to a home in the 200 block of Waterloo Crescent in the city’s College Park East neighbourhood where the boy was reported injured, according to a press release.
A Saskatoon Police Service spokesperson confirmed the boy’s age on Monday.

The child later died at Royal University Hospital.
It is not yet known how old the infant was, nor what type of injuries he had.
The teen girl, who is not related to the infant, appeared before a justice of the peace on Sunday evening and is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon provincial court on Monday morning.

The death is Saskatoon’s ninth homicide of 2016. An update on the investigation will is expected to come Monday, according to police.
