WWII medals stolen during break and enter in Surrey

A Surrey resident is appealing to the public for help after his deceased father’s World War II medals were stolen during a recent break and enter.

RCMP say on June 14, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., a home was broken into in the 6300-block of 126 Street. There were no witnesses to the event.

Among several items taken was a framed collection of medals and keepsakes, which has great sentimental value to the owner.

“It’s hard to imagine the heartache felt by this victim at having some of the last few memories of his father being stolen,” said Cpl. Scotty Schumann in a release. “It defies logic as to why someone would even want to steal them given their value is purely sentimental. Hopefully the suspect will realize this and return the collection or someone will recognize it and help get it back to its rightful owner.”
