MONTREAL – A 91-year-old woman is dead after she fell from the window of her room in a long-term care facility in Montreal’s Ahuntsic borough.
Police believe the woman may have fallen while trying to escape the facility from an upper window.
Officers received a 911 call at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday about a woman who had suffered a fall from an upper floor window in a CHSLD located on Saint-Denis Street, near de Louvain Street East.
When police arrived on scene, first responders were administering CPR, in an attempt to revive the unconscious woman.
She was pronounced dead shortly after.
Investigators erected a perimeter around the front of the building where the woman was found lying on the ground.
Early reports indicate no foul play was involved and police have ruled out homicide.
According to Abdullah Emaran, spokesperson for Montreal police, it appears the death was accidental.
The investigation has now been turned over to the coroner’s office.
A report from the coroner’s office will determine the next steps to follow.
