Sask. government investing $1M to upgrade water, wastewater systems at 3 parks

Improvements to water and wastewater systems are coming to three Saskatchewan provincial parks.

The Saskatchewan government announced Wednesday almost one-million dollars in upgrades to the systems at Cypress Hills, Good Spirit Lake and Moose Mountain provincial parks.

Officials say the upgrades will meet the increased demands for services at the three parks.

“Our provincial parks continue to have increasing levels of visitation every year,” said Mark Docherty, the minister of parks, culture and sport.

“Projects like these provide important infrastructure to support those visits and continue to provide high quality visitor experiences.”

At Cypress Hills, the sewage lagoon will be upgraded and expanded as the current lagoon is undersized for the park.

Work at Moose Mountain includes upgrading the pumping, ventilation, electrical and mechanical systems of the main sewage lift system while the water treatment plant at Good Spirit Lake will be upgraded.

Work on all three projects is slated to start in early fall and should be substantially complete in time for the 2017 camping season.
