Winnipeg Jets release complete 2016-2017 regular season schedule

WINNIPEG – Hockey fans will get plenty of early peeks of the players who crack the Winnipeg Jets lineup in the upcoming NHL season.

The Jets will play four of their first five games of the year at MTS Centre starting with their season opener against the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday, October 13. Also included in that stretch is the 2016 Heritage Classic versus the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday, October 23 at Investors Group Field. The outdoor game will start at 2 pm.

The Jets’ longest home stand spans six games from February 28 to March 11. Their longest road trip of the season is five games between November 17 and 25.

Winnipeg will ring in 2017 on home ice as the Jets’ New Year’s Eve game returns with a visit from the New York Islanders on December 31.

November is the busiest month with the Jets, who are suiting up 16 times in 30 days. Winnipeg hosts a Canadian team on eight occasions during the season. The Jets will visit Edmonton’s new arena, Rogers Place, for the first time on December 11. The Jets will also play 14 back-to-backs in 2016-2017.

New this year is a five-day bye for each NHL team. The Jets will take their break from February 22 to 26.
