RCMP investigate after Red Deer man killed in QE2 crash

RCMP are investigating a deadly crash that happened on the QE2 Highway near Ponoka late Thursday afternoon.

One person was killed after a pickup truck rolled on the busy highway.

Mounties said officers were called to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 2 at 4:51 p.m.

They said a pickup truck was travelling southbound when the driver lost control and struck the centre median, causing the vehicle to roll.

According to police, the passenger – a man in his 50s from Red Deer – was pronounced dead at the scene. RCMP said he was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver – a woman in her 50s from Red Deer – was wearing a seatbelt and taken to hospital with minor injuries.

On Friday evening, the RCMP said an investigation into the cause of the crash was ongoing.
