A machete-wielding man was caught on camera trying to attack a woman at a local North Carolina laundromat on Tuesday, leaving the couple shaken up.

The married pair, who wanted to remain anonymous, said two male suspects entered the laundry facility on  June 14 and began assaulting the woman.

Her husband said he could hear his spouse asking the men not harm her.

“All I hear is her say is, ‘Please don’t do this. Please don’t hurt me,'” the husband said to WCNC.

The surveillance video showed one of the men approaching the woman as she was standing by a laundry machine, but the footage doesn’t show the husband fighting the men off nor the actual attack on the wife.

According to WCNC, the brawl between the husband and suspects made its way outside where the husband received bruised, bloodied hands and a slice to his face from the machete.

All the husband had to defend himself and his spouse were his fists.

“I didn’t care about myself. I was going to her rescue. I’m her man. I’m her husband. I’m not going sit there and let somebody put their hands on my wife…like I’m some coward,” said the husband to WCNC.

The suspects got away with the wife’s tablet and US$30.

Neither men have been arrested.

The wife is grateful for her husband’s bravery but said to WCNC that she’s now terrified to go anywhere.

“I can’t even handle somebody walking behind me in the grocery store. I’m scared to go outside.”
