WINNIPEG– Showers and thunderstorms are unlikely to bring much relief from the humidity.

Showers and thunderstorms are in southwestern Manitoba Thursday, and will start to taper off later in the morning. Temperatures around Westman and the Parklands will be around 27 Celsius with humidex values in the low to mid 30s.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely to reform Thursday evening along the Saskatchewan border. There is also a chance these storms will prompt severe thunderstorm watches or warnings.

In Winnipeg, the forecast for Thursday is hot and humid. Temperatures will reach a high of 27° Celsius with a humidex value near 33. Friday morning is when showers and thunderstorms are possible. Weather models show rainfall in the area will likely be between 5-10mm although with thunderstorms, higher totals are possible.

Often, thunderstorms will lower the humidity in the air as a lot of the moisture in the air will be turned into rain. That is not the case here. These showers and thunderstorms will not bring much of a change in the forecast. Conditions are expected to stay hot and humid into the weekend with the chance for a bit more rain as well.
