The Canadian Taxpayers Federation says B.C.’s carbon tax should be dumped immediately because it hasn’t accomplished its environmental goals and is costing people too much.
The tax on gas and other fuels was imposed under the Gordon Campbell government in an effort to reduce the amount of greenhouses gases being spewed into the air.

The government billed the tax as revenue neutral because of offsetting cuts in personal income taxes.
But the Taxpayers Federation says the income tax cut only covers 228 million dollars of the 1.2 billion the carbon tax rakes in every year, and average taxpayers can’t get other tax breaks like venture capital or industrial property credits, or research and experimental development grants.
