MONTREAL — The Crown prosecutor in the first-degree murder trial of Richard Henry Bain submitted hundreds of photos of guns and weapons-related material as evidence Friday.
The pictures showed tactical rifles, handguns, knives, ammunition, a bullet proof vest, a gasoline container, road side flares and a starting pistol.

It’s part of Crown prosecutor Dennis Galiatsatos’ strategy to suggest Bain knew what he was doing the night lighting technician Denis Blanchette was shot and killed at Parti Québécois (PQ) election night headquarters on Sept. 4, 2012.
Bain is charged with first-degree murder in Blanchette’s death, and faces five other criminal charges.
In the second day of the trial, Sûreté du Québec inspector Sgt. Guillaume Vezeau continued his testimony.

The evidence submitted to the court alleged Bain had a CZ 858 tactical rifle in his possession with one round in the chamber and 26 rounds in the magazine clip.
Bain apparently also had a CZ handgun in his possession, loaded with nine rounds and an additional magazine clip containing 29 rounds, a pocket knife and a road flare in his shorts.
The Crown produced photos alleging Bain had two more rifles in his GMC Yukon, as well as a Beretta handgun, more magazine clips, boxes of ammunition, a starter gun, a machete and a bullet proof vest.
Sgt. Vezeau meticulously described to the court details of the more than 200 photos submitted.
The pictures also showed prescription drugs that were allegedly found in Vezeau’s vehicle and a parking receipt from the Royal Victoria Hospital at 3:10 p.m. on the day the crimes were committed.
Defence attorney Alan Guttman then cross-examined Sgt. Vezeau to ask him specific questions about the pictures.

Following Sgt. Vezeau’s testimony, Galiatsatos called former Elections Quebec employee Caroline Huot to the stand.
She testified that the accused, Bain, called the office in the Conception riding to determine whether he was on the list.
Huot told the court that he was not; she continued that Bain was on the Repentigny list and could vote there if he could prove he was a resident.
The now retired Elections Quebec agent testified that Bain said he hadn’t lived in Repentigny for three years and that he was from a family of great hunters well known in the Conception area.
Huot said she told him that didn’t change her answer and said Bain became “arrogant” in his tone and asked her to spell her name.
During her cross examination by defence attorney Guttman, Huot was asked whether Bain ever threatened to kill her or anyone else.
She gave a one work answer: “no.”
Huot added the conversation was not recorded, ending her testimony.
Galiatsatos is expected to call 45 to 50 people to the stand during the six to eight week trial.
The trial resumes Monday at 9:30 a.m.
