The Saskatchewan government is supporting construction careers by investing in education.
The government will invest $967, 000 into the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies, or SIIT, for the construction careers program in Regina.
Liana Wolf Ear, the office administrator for the program, said it is an important opportunity.
Over 600 First Nations and Métis peoples will have the chance to participate in the program this year.
Ian Knibbs, the district manager at Coram Construction, says the program gives students the necessary knowledge they will need at work.
SIIT runs similar training across the province, providing basic education and training programs.
