A U.S. woman was shocked by what her home security camera captured late last month — a little boy sneaking into her garage to give her dog some loving attention.

Hollie Mallet posted the footage on Facebook with the hope that her neighbours could identify the young boy.

“Attn Neighbors! Anyone know who this sweet little boy is? Every now and then when he rides his bike he will quickly come and love on my dog or play fetch real quick, but always leaves quick like he doesn’t know if he should be here!” the Louisiana resident wrote. “I’d like to tell him he’s welcome to stay and play, she loves the attention!”

In the video, the little boy is seen dropping his bicycle on the sidewalk before running up the driveway to give his neighbour’s dog Dutchess a loving hug and a brief cuddle.

It didn’t take long before the child was identified. A neighbour recognized that child and tagged the boy’s mother on the video, which has since been viewed over 2 million times.

“Josh talks about your dog all the time! Every time we pass he looks to see if she was sitting where he could see her. Just didn’t know he was doing things like this,” the mother wrote. “Last night when I first saw it, I was torn as a momma being happy and upset because he knows he shouldn’t be on someone’s property, but I wake up this morning more happy that he just absolutely adores dogs so much.”

Mallet said the child was welcome to play with the dog anytime.

“So mystery solved guys, hope this sweet little boy Josh continues to come play and love up on Dutchess! A dog is a friend for life!” Mallet wrote. “So glad to see that innocence and love was caught on camera instead of what they are normally used for. Can’t believe all the views this post has received, so glad to have captured this sweetness!”

The boy’s mother said Josh was embarrassed by the video at first.

“He turned ten shades of red when I told him to watch a video that I found!” Ginger Clement Breaux said. “He had a big smile after and said ‘you know I love dogs momma.’”

It didn’t take long for Josh to return to the garage to play with Dutchess, this time with permission. The boy’s mother posted several selfies of her son and his new best friend.
