A city in northern Saskatchewan has been fined in court for violating the safety of its workers.
The City of Meadow Lake has pleaded guilty to two counts under the province’s Occupational Health and Safety Act.

A judge ordered the city to pay $6,180 in fines.
An inspection found two employees working in an unsafe trench in September 2010.
Court heard the workers were not protected from cave-ins or sliding materials while working in the trench.
The work site was also not well supervised.
