More than half of Halifax accidents happen at crosswalks

Halifax police said 55 per cent of the vehicle-pedestrian collisions in the first four months of the year were at crosswalks.

The latest report from the regional force and Halifax RCMP states there were 63 vehicle-pedestrian accidents from January through April.

Two-thirds resulted in minor or moderate injuries and two in serious injuries — but there were no fatalities.

It said the number of collisions increased slightly to 13 in April from 10 in March, but the number for the first four months was down just slightly from the 62 collisions reported during the same period last year.
