WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Jets have locked up prospect Nelson Nogier to a three-year, two-way entry-level contract.
The defenceman’s deal is worth $771,700 per year. Nogier was selected by the Jets in the fourth round, 101st overall in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. The 20-year-old Saskatoon product would have re-entered the draft if both sides couldn’t have come to terms.
Nogier has logged 235 WHL games over five seasons with the Saskatoon Blades and Red Deer Rebels. He finished this year with a career-high 21 points in 69 games.
Nogier has also played in two Memorial Cups including in this year’s tournament in Red Deer. He was named the WHL’s Scholastic Player of the Year following the 2013-2014 season.
