After two non-confidence votes in the past two years, there’s been a change near the top of the administrative ranks at Lethbridge College.

Vice President,  Academic and Chief Operating Officer Stuart Cullum is no longer with the college. Some reports suggest Cullum resigned, but when asked on Monday, the college wouldn’t confirm the nature of his departure.

Cullum joined the college in the fall of 2013 and played a significant role in a handful of initiatives including the Cor Van Raay Southern Alberta Agribusiness program, and strengthening the college’s applied research capacity.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

In an email sent to staff last week, Lethbridge College President Paula Burns addressed Cullum’s departure.

“Stuart has been a valuable member of the Lethbridge College Executive Leadership Team, a strong and steady presence at the Lethbridge college board of governors and a proud advocate of our institution,” the email read. “It goes without saying that Stuart’s departure will leave a gap in our institution; he will be missed and I wish him the very best in his next endeavor.”

Cullum’s departure comes a little over a month after an internal survey suggested a lack of confidence in the college’s board of governors and senior administration.

In that survey, more than 66 per cent of faculty voted they did not have confidence in Cullum and virtually the same percentage voted they did not have confidence in Burns.

Global News reached out to the faculty association Monday but they declined comment.

The college has not said who will replace Cullum but said interim leadership for the position will be decided on in the next couple weeks.
