Calgary police are looking to the public for help as they investigate a brazen shooting in Erin Woods last month that left a bullet lodged in the victim’s vehicle.

Officers were called to the 900 block of Erin Woods Drive S.E. at around 9:30 a.m. on April 15 for reports of a shooting.

The victim told investigators he was travelling home from work at around 4 a.m. when an SUV began tailgating him. The SUV pulled out from behind the victim’s vehicle, passing him in the oncoming traffic lane, before pulling in front of his vehicle and forcing him to stop.

A man got out of the SUV and began walking toward the victim with a gun and demanding he get out of his car. Police say the victim refused so the man smashed the butt of his gun against the window of the victim’s car.

According to police, the victim drove around the man in an attempt to get away, but the man fired at the victim’s vehicle. A bullet was later found stuck in the engine compartment after travelling through the driver’s side window.

Investigators describe the SUV as an older beige or cream coloured model. The man was approximately 5’11” tall and 200 pounds with a medium build. He was wearing a grey shirt and white ball cap with a black rim.

Anyone with information on the incident or the vehicle involved is asked to call Calgary police at 403-266-1234 or contact Crime Stoppers.
