When a pedestrian is hit by a car, often additional injuries come from bouncing off the hood and hitting the road. Well, Google has a solution to this: what if you were to ‘stick’ to the car?

Google has filed for a patent on adhesive bumpers for their self-driving cars. That way, if the car were to hit a pedestrian, they would “stick” to the hood of the car instead of bouncing back onto the road.

It’s described as a sort-of doubled-sided tape with an eggshell like coating to keep it clean, that would break and become sticky on impact.
