MONTREAL – Investigators with the Montreal police arson squad have been in contact with a person of interest in connection with a fire at a medical clinic in Ahuntsic earlier this month.

Montreal police spokeperson André Leclerc told Global News that investigators hope to meet with the individual in the near future.

Fire broke out on May 3 at the Centre Métropolitain de Chirurgie, a clinic that performs genital reassignment surgery.

Leclerc says the investigation is ongoing and that it doesn’t appear to be a hate crime.
