Teen arrested in Red Deer stabbing near Central Middle School

A 15-year-old girl appeared in court Friday morning on charges connected to a stabbing in downtown Red Deer.

Mounties said a 26-year-old woman was stabbed twice near Central Middle School just after 3 p.m. Thursday.

The victim was taken to Red Deer Regional Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers located the young offender not far from where the attack happened and took her into custody.

The teen cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Red Deer is located about 150 kilometres north of Calgary.
