Halifax Regional Police were called to Cranberry Crescent in Dartmouth around 2 a.m. on Sunday morning after a grey pick-up truck ran into a utility pole and broke it.
When officers arrived on scene, the pole was badly damaged and on fire. As a result, power was knocked out to the surrounding area.
A 24-year-old Dartmouth was was arrested following the incident for impaired driving. Police say they have yet to make a decision on exactly what charges will be laid.
Meanwhile, Nova Scotia Power estimates that power will be restored to the area by noon on Sunday.
