The bail hearing for a Calgary woman charged with the murder of her 78-year-old mother will be held in mid June.
Lisa Freihaut is charged with one count of second-degree murder in the stabbing death of Irene Carter.
Police said Carter’s body was discovered by Freihaut and her husband in her home on Normandy Road South just after 2 p.m. on Jan. 17.
Her death was originally classified as suspicious, but an autopsy later revealed Carter was stabbed to death.
Freihaut was then arrested on April 22, just weeks after making an emotional public appeal asking the public for help finding her mother’s killer.

An investigation determined Freihaut and Carter were involved in a dispute over finances. Police alleged the pair got into a physical altercation which resulted in the senior’s death. It’s believed she was killed on Jan. 13, four days before her body was found.
On Friday, Freihaut appeared in Lethbridge’s Court of Queen’s Bench via CCTV, at which time her bail hearing was set for June 13.
