WINNIPEG – A murder trial is underway in connection with a grisly double killing in Charleswood.
Seymour Sharpe is charged with two counts of second degree murder in the deaths of Natasha Jeffrey and Ronald Debreo.
They were found dead inside the house on Roblin Boulevard in May 2013.
Court has heard the case is “not a whodunit” and Sharpe is the one who struck the fatal blows.
Jeffrey and Sharpe had dated for years but had separated.
Prosecutors say Debreo was a childhood friend of Jeffrey’s who was visiting from New York.
Sharpe turned himself into police the day after the killings.
It’s still unclear what motive he may have had for the killing but prosecutors say a final witness will describe a heated phone call in the hours before the killings that foreshadowed what happened.
The trial is slated to last until the end of next week.
