City of Calgary issues fire safety advisory Tuesday

The City of Calgary has issued a fire safety advisory to help reduce the fire risk caused by the continued warm, dry weather.

The city is reminding citizens to be cautious when using items such as barbecues, backyard fire pits, and to be vigilant when disposing of smoking materials. Officials are also asking citizens to be cautious in the city’s natural parks and green spaces.

While many fire advisories and bans are implemented in Alberta, the city said because of by-laws a full fire ban is not required as of 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The Calgary Fire Department will continue to monitor conditions and update the advisory as needed.
