SAINT-RAYMOND, Que. – A major fire overnight devastated the downtown core of Saint-Raymond-de-Portneuf, a small town 50 kilometres northwest of Quebec City.
At least three buildings were destroyed in the blaze, including the local community TV station’s offices, as well as a beauty salon and some residential units.
The fire appears to have started in a residence at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, but the cause has yet to be confirmed.
Over 50 firefighters from adjoining municipalities battled the flames.
Firefighters remained at the scene late Sunday morning to protect neighbouring buildings.
At least 20 people were evacuated from their homes but there are no reports of injury.
