A lockdown is currently in place for the medium security area of the Saskatchewan Penitentiary in Prince Albert.
Correctional Service of Canada initiated the lockdown after a disturbance at the multi-level facility yesterday evening.
Officials are not saying what caused the disturbance but say it was a violent incident involving seven inmates.

Two have been taken to hospital for treatment of their injuries.
A search is now underway to ensure the safety and security of the institution, staff and inmates.
The lockdown will remain in place until it is safe to return to normal routines.
Prince Albert RCMP are assisting with the investigation.
Visits to the medium security inmates have been suspended until further notice.
The maximum security section of the penitentiary is not affected by the lockdown.
