BAIE D’URFÉ – The West Island business community has signed onto a resolution to link highways 20 and 40 in the West Island via Morgan Road, which lies beneath the Baie d’Urfé rail lines.

“Baie d’Urfé is the only West Island city without a north-south connector between Highway 20 and Highway 40,” explained Joseph Huza, director of the West Island Chamber of Commerce.

The link would allow the Baie d’Urfé Industrial Park to stay competitive, allowing its workforce easier rail access.

However, not all residents are convinced it’s a good idea, citing traffic congestion.

In light of the recent announcement of a train de l’ouest, the business community said it wants to work to improve overall transit, which they say would be good news for the economy, as well as for students who study in the West Island.
