WATCH ABOVE: RCMP are investigating the death of a 20-year-old North Preston, N.S. man. They're calling it a homicide, the third one in the Halifax Regional Municipality within a week. Global's Steve Silva reports – Apr 23, 2016

The death of 20-year-old man found in North Preston, N.S., Saturday morning is being considered a homicide by the RCMP.

Following an autopsy, the victim was identified as Daverico Downey, who is from the area.

Police say he appeared to have been shot and was found outside.

Officers were called to Downey Road at 2 a.m., according to an RCMP press release.

The Major Crimes Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division is leading the investigation.

An autopsy is scheduled for later Saturday.

RCMP members blocked off at least two homes with crime tape for much of the morning. A canine team was also used.

This is the third suspicious death in the Halifax Regional Municipality within a week, following the deaths of Tyler Richards and Naricho Clayton; police have not confirmed if all three are related.

Anyone with information on the incident that could help police is asked to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
