REGINA – Regina police have charged a 21-year-old woman after she made a false report involving a stolen vehicle and a child.
On April 21, at approximately 1:23 p.m., police say they received a call from a woman who said her car had been stolen on the 3200 block of Hill Avenue with her four-year-old kid inside.
Police found the vehicle a few minutes later, parked on the 1700 block of Wallace Street, but did not find the child in the vehicle.
They entered a residence on the same block in their search, but later found out that there was never a child in the vehicle and the woman did not have any children. However, the car was still considered stolen.
The woman who made the false report has been charged with public mischief. Police say her name is not being released because she is the victim of auto theft. She will appear in Provincial Court on May 31.
Dustin William St. Denis, 28, from Regina, faces six charges, including breach of probation, theft of a motor vehicle and possession of stolen property under $5,000. He appeared in Provincial Court on Friday morning.
