EDMONTON – Human remains found last month on the northeast corner of the city are those of a man who went missing last summer.
The Edmonton Medical Examiner confirmed on Friday the remains are those of 23-year-old Awet Ghebre, and the death has been deemed a homicide.

Ghebre went missing in June 2015. He was last seen by his family on June 14 and last heard from when he called his family on June 17.

His remains were found in the area of 34 Street and 257 Avenue on March 21, 2016.
Homicide detectives are investigating the death.
This is Edmonton’s 17th homicide of 2016.
