CALGARY – Fire crews were called to the scene of a blaze in a garage in the city’s northeast Sunday afternoon.
It happened in the 200 block of Saddlemead Drive NE. at around 2:45 p.m.
A mother and five children who were in a home on the same property as the garage managed to get out safely.
The garage fire was potentially threatening to surrounding houses, so crews quickly knocked down the flames to prevent further spread. However, there was extensive damage to the garage.
There was also minor exterior damage from heat exposure to the house on the property and a neighbouring house.
No injuries were reported from the fire, and there were no vehicles in the garage at the time of the incident.
Crews remained on scene to put out hot spots and conduct overhaul and salvage operations.
Officials continue to investigate what caused the fire.
There is no word on what caused the blaze.
