LONGUEUIL – A 13-hour standoff with police that started when a suspect refused to come out of a home on Notre-Dame-de-Grâces Street in Longueuil, ended peacefully Sunday morning.

The incident began on Friday afternoon, when a man in his 40s showed up at Longueil police headquarters with injuries to his hand.

He was taken to hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

According to police the victim was stabbed with an edge weapon after an altercation with an acquaintance.

Police caught up with the suspect in a home on Notre-Dame-de-Grâces Street but the 31-year-old refused to come out of the residence.

A security perimeter was then set up around the house, leading to the evacuation of five neighbouring homes.
