EDMONTON – The Edmonton Eskimos signed quarterback Mike Reilly to a contract extension through the 2018 season Thursday.

Reilly capped the 2015 season leading Edmonton to a 26-20 Grey Cup win over the Ottawa Redblacks in November and was named the game’s outstanding player.

“I couldn’t be more excited to continue my career in Edmonton with the Eskimos,” Reilly said.

“I take great pride in being a part of the Edmonton community and this great organization, and I can’t wait to get back to work with my teammates and try to win another Grey Cup.”

The six-foot-three, 230-pound Reilly began his CFL career in 2010 with the B.C. Lions and was dealt to Edmonton in January 2013 for the Eskimos’ second-round picks in the ’13 and ’14 CFL drafts.

“Mike is a true professional and exceptional player. He works hard and is a fierce competitor and leader, on and off the field,” Eskimos Vice President of Football Operations and General Manager Ed Hervey said.

“He has become a franchise player and continues to push himself and his teammates to be the very best. We are pleased to reach an agreement to extend his career with the Edmonton Eskimos.”

The 31-year-old suffered a knee injury in Edmonton’s season-opening loss to Toronto last year.
